چکیده
ABSTRACT We derive the local stellar formation history from Gaia-defined 40 pc white dwarf sample. This is currently largest volume-complete sample of dwarfs for which spectroscopy available, allowing classification chemical abundances at photosphere, and subsequently accurate determination atmospheric parameters. create a population synthesis model show that uniform last ≈10.5 Gyr provides satisfactory fit to observed distribution absolute Gaia G magnitudes. To test robustness our derivation, we vary various assumptions in model, including initial mass function, initial-to-final relation, kinematic evolution, binary fraction, cooling time-scales. From these tests, conclude have an insignificant effect on derived relative rate as function look-back time. However, onset (age Galactic disc) sensitive variety input parameters models. Our gives much better magnitudes than most previous studies.

Stellar feedback in dwarf galaxy formation.
Dwarf galaxies pose substantial challenges for cosmological models. In particular, current models predict a dark-matter density that is divergent at the center, which is in sharp contrast with observations that indicate a core of roughly constant density. Energy feedback, from supernova explosions and stellar winds, has been proposed as a major factor shaping the evolution of dwarf galaxies. We...
متن کاملFeedback and the Formation of Dwarf Galaxy Stellar Halos
Stellar population studies show that low mass galaxies in all environments exhibit stellar halos that are older and more spherically distributed than the main body of the galaxy. In some cases, there is a significant intermediate age component that extends beyond the young disk. We examine a suite of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) simulations and find that elevated early star formation ac...
متن کاملOn the formation of dwarf galaxies and stellar halos
Using analytic arguments and a suite of very high resolution (∼ 10 M⊙ per particle) cosmological hydro-dynamical simulations, we argue that high redshift, z ∼ 10, M ∼ 10 M⊙ halos, form the smallest ‘baryonic building block’ (BBB) for galaxy formation. These halos are just massive enough to efficiently form stars through atomic line cooling and to hold onto their gas in the presence of supernova...
متن کاملRoche Lobe Overflow from Dwarf Stellar Systems
We examine the evolution of residual gas within tidally-limited dwarf galaxies and globular clusters. In systems where the gas sound speed exceeds about 10% of the central velocity dispersion, hydrostatic equilibrium causes the gas to have significant density at the tidal radius. In contrast to the stellar component, gas particles relax rapidly in response to mass loss. Gas lost through the Lag...
متن کاملThe Star Formation History and the spatial distribution of stellar populations in the Ursa Minor Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy
As a part of a project devoted to the study of the Ursa Minor dSph, the star formation history of the galaxy is presented in this paper. The analysis uses wide field photometry, encompassing about 1◦× 1◦ (the total covered area being 0.75 deg), which samples the galaxy out to its tidal radius. Derivation of the SFH has been performed using the synthetic partial model technique. The resulting SF...
